**Purpose

Passing the Global Warming Solutions Act

We are very excited about the networks that will be built and strengthened coming out of Massachusetts Power Shift as well as the knowledge, inspiration, and empowerment our attendees will be walking away from the conference with.

However, our main target for the weekend is the passage of the Global Warming Solutions Act, the MA bill we are lobbying on that will have Massachusetts reduce its Greenhouse Gas Emissions 20% below 1990 levels by the year 2020, and 80% below 1990 levels by the year 2050.

By passing this bill, we will set Massachusetts as a model for states around the country, and raise the bar for impending Federal Legislation. Our own state will immediately benefit from increased levels of investments in clean, renewable energy, generating new Green Jobs and giving our state a head-start on the global race to cut emissions (making it easier for us in the longterm).
