Massachusetts State House, South Steps (24 Beacon St., Boston MA 02133)

Close to two hundred students and community members rallied outside the Massachusetts State House in downtown Boston, joining the call for 100% Clean Electricity in 10 Years.

On Thursday March 12th - after two failed attempts - the Massachusetts State Senate passed a RePower America Resolution, calling for 100% Clean Electricity in 10 Years.  This success is largely thanks to the bold and visionary leadership of State Senator Marc Pacheco, chair of the Senate Global Warming and Climate Change Committee.

Hundreds of citizens rallied to call attention to that important victory, and demonstrate support for the goal as the resolution moves to the House next week for a vote, where Climate Champion State Representative Frank Smizik (Chair of the House Global Warming and Climate Change) is expected to secure its passage.

The rally, co-sponsored by Clean Water Action, the Massachusetts Chapter of the Sierra Club, the Massachusetts Climate Action Network, the Massachusetts Coalition for Healthy Communities, and the Massachusetts Green Jobs Coalition, also featured climate rock stars from the Soul 'N Roll band Melodeego over a bicycle-powered sound system!

The rally is the public kick-off of a campaign to get the 10 Congressional Representatives from Massachusetts to publicly declare their support for Al Gore's call to RePower America with 100% Clean Electricity in 10 Years.  To read more about this, and find out how you can get involved, click here.

The 100% Clean Electricity in 10 Years Goal was devised by Al Gore and is being promoted by a coalition led by his non-profit, the Alliance for Climate Protection.  To find out more information on their nation-wide campaign, please visit the RePower America site.
